BEARBERRIES (kinnickinnick)

We have these growing wild everywhere. This bush was right at the side of my driveway, but what caught my attention to it was the Black Bear cub that was eating them. That’s how this plant got its name, bears cannot resist the bright red snacks! Of course I didn’t have my camera with me, and by the time I grabbed it a came back he was gone. But I did spend a few moments with a macro lens to see what kind of a shot I could get. I really loved how the large field of green is interrupted by the bright red berry.
